National Nutrition Strategy and Action Plan 2021-2026

The plan is about the National Nutrition Strategy and Action for Lebanon for the period of 2021-2026.
The objectives aim to address the key challenges and opportunities identified in the situation analysis and contribute to improving the health and nutrition outcomes in Lebanon.

Pillars & Objectives

Pillar: Strengthened multi-sectoral nutrition governance, accountability, and information management ​
Objectives:
  • Improve coordination and governance of nutrition interventions at the national level. ​
  • Strengthen the capacity of relevant ministries and key actors to implement nutrition interventions. ​
  • Enhance the availability and use of nutrition data for decision-making and monitoring. ​
Pillar: Aligned health systems providing universal coverage of essential nutrition services (HEALTH SYSTEMS)
Objectives:
  • Improve the coverage and quality of nutrition services in primary health care settings. ​
  • Strengthen the capacity of health care providers to deliver nutrition services. ​
  • Enhance the integration of nutrition into health systems and policies.
Pillar: Sustainable, resilient food systems for healthy diets (SUPPLY) ​
Objectives:
  • Promote sustainable and resilient food production systems.
  • Improve access to diverse and nutritious foods.
  • Enhance food safety and quality control measures.
Pillar: Safe and supportive environment for nutrition at all ages (ENVIRONMENT) ​
Objectives:
  • Create supportive environments for healthy eating and physical activity. ​
  • Implement nutrition education and behavior change interventions.
  • Strengthen food labeling and marketing regulations.
Pillar: Social protection for nutrition to ensure economic availability of safe food (SOCIAL PROTECTION) ​
Objectives:
  • Improve access to nutritious foods through social protection programs. ​
  • Enhance the capacity of vulnerable populations to meet their nutritional needs. ​
  • Strengthen the coordination and monitoring of social protection programs.
