The Palestine Data Strategy (PDS) 2022-2026, prepared by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), aims to transform and modernize the Palestinian National Statistical System (NSS) to better support evidence-based decision-making and the monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Pillars & Objectives

Pillar: Transformation of the Data Ecosystem
Objectives:
  • Boost partnerships among NSS actors.
  • Develop concrete working relations with new data source owners.
  • Strengthen linkages between producers and users of official statistics.
  • Invest in data management, including gathering, secured transfer, processing, and use.
  • Promote data science and build a data-driven culture within the country​​.
Pillar: Steering Factors and Interventions
Objectives:
  • Focus on quality and excellence in data management and production of official statistics.
  • Improve trust and confidence in statistics.
  • Raise awareness among users on the importance of quality statistics for evidence-based decision-making.
  • Enhance compliance with international norms and standards​​.
Pillar: Supporting Factors and Interventions
Objectives:
  • Address foundations of the data ecosystem, focusing on human resources and necessary technologies.
  • Improve data governance and stewardship.
  • Enhance data analytics.
  • Execute large statistical operations (surveys and censuses) to validate socio-economic and cultural patterns regularly​​.
