The National Development Plan 2018-2022 is the most significant step in Iraq’s sustainable development journey towards a future where it aspires to be a developed country at the economic, political, cultural, social, ecological, psychological and spiritual levels.

Objectives:
  • Give parents the right to decide on the number and frequency of births
  • Facilitate the voluntary return of internally displaced persons to their homes

Pillar: Workforce

  • Develop a planning framework for human resources covering more than five years
  • Utilize the demographic window
Pillar: Macroeconomic framework

  • Increase the agricultural sector's contribution to the gross domestic product from 4.5 per cent in 2015 to 5.2 per cent in 2022, and achieve a growth rate of 8.4 per cent in the target year
